Top Of The Pops Thursday: The B-52’s – Rock Lobster; Love Shack

A treat, this week, for fans of The B-52’s – and, hey, who isn’t?

The band, from Athens Georgia, have been around for 33 years now, so, in another ‘then-and-now(ish)’ comparison (like this one), here are their two best-known songs.

First a very early recording of the band performing Rock Lobster, filmed at the Downtown Cafe in Altlanta, Georgia, on September 2, 1978, just before it was released as their first single.

And here we fast-forward, almost up to date, to a performance of Love Shack in Montreux, Switzerland, on July 19th, 2007:

I don’t know about you but, to me, they don’t sound any different now than they did way back then, which is kinda astonishing when you think about it and consider the ages of singers Kate Pierson(who was 59 at the time of the Montreux gig), Cindy Wilson (who was 50) and Fred Schneider (who was 56).
