Video Killed The Radio Star: Pat Benatar – Love Is A Battlefield

It’s a sobering thought to realise that Pat Benatar, a minor obsession for the teenage Choob back in the day, is now 56.

Video Killed The Radio Star this week features the promo for her biggest hit, Love Is A Battlefield, released in the the US in 1983 and in the UK in 1985.

In it, Benatar (right) plays the oldest teenage runaway in history. Seriously. She was 30 when it was filmed – that’s almost old enough to have gone to high school with Olivia Newton John and Stockard Channing and those other mature-student Pink Ladies from Rydell High in Grease.

The Love Is A Battlefield video tells the story of a small-town girl who falls out with her parents, runs away to the big city and ends up as a prostitute (or at least the closest thing to prostitution that could be shown in a 1980s music video) but who ultimately frees herself and her fellow sex slaves from a life of vice by unleashing the power of over-choreographed, synchronised, sub-Michael Jackson dance routines.

And shaking her boobies.
