A Word From Our Sponsors… The Fiat Strada


This week’s featured advert, from 1979, is a masterful example of the clever combination of music and visuals.

Fiat were so proud of their, at the time, revolutionary automated production line used to create their new Strada car, they decided to show it off in style.

The two-minute advert shows images of the robots assembling the Strada (slogan: “Handbuilt by robots”), synchronised to Largo al factotum, an aria from the opera The Barber Of Seville by Gioachino Rossini, followed by some mild stunt driving:

It a great advert in its own right – but the main reason for including it here, if I am honest, is to include these two Not The Nine O’Clock News parodies:
