Video Killed The Radio Star: Frankie Goes To Hollywood – Two Tribes

Since the featured theme tune last Tuesday was that of nuclear confrontation sitcom Whoops Apocalypse, what better music video to spotlight this weekend than Frankie Goes To Hollywood‘s cold war-era anti-war song Two Tribes?

Released in 1984, the band’s second single (after the controversial Relax), it was was produced by The BugglesTrevor Horn and spent nine weeks at number one in the UK.

The video, featuring look-a-likes of then US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet premiere Konstantin Chernenko wrestling each other, cheered on by a baying international crowd, was directed by Godley and Creme.

There were several different remixes of the song released – and a few edits of the video. I’m no FGTH expert but, from what I can tell, this is the longest version of the video, based on a 12″ remix released in Japan.
