The Monday Movie – 12 Angry Men

Outstanding film. Outstanding cast. Outstanding performances.

And, in the aftermath of the European Parliament elections at which two BNP candidates were elected as MEPs, this scene from Sidney Lumet‘s 12 Angry Men also provides a timely reminder of how best to deal with racists, bigots and prejudice.

Quite apart from the scene’s social commentary, it’s a wonderfully bitter and twisted, vitriolic performance from Ed Begley as the loud-mouthed, racist juror No.10, and some fantastically choreographed film-making, the scene unfolding in a single shot without any cuts.
