Video Killed The Radio Star: Jane Wiedlin – Rush Hour

When it comes to The Go-Gos, Belinda Carlisle was always my favourite – the teenage Choob had a major crush on her back in the late 80s during the height of her solo career. I even went to see her play a gig in Glasgow the night before one of my final exams when I was at university.

Jane Wiedlin was a close second, however, thanks largely to this song, released in 1988, and, in particular, a live performance of it on The Last Resort, the young Jonathan Ross‘s first chat show – which was inspired by Late Night With David Letterman and aired late night Friday on Channel 4 – after which he commented to the audience, “Now I know want I want for Christmas…”. Indeed.

Rush Hour was Wiedlin’s only major solo hit in the UK. As if the video wasn’t cute as button just with her in it, they decided to throw in a few dolphins for good measure…

Enjoy!
