A Christmas serenade from 20 Minutes Into The Future.
Max Headroom‘s brief, but brilliant, TV career started back in 1985 on the UK’s own fledgling Channel 4.
Set in a dystopian, cyberpunk society, the groundbreaking TV movie Max Headroom: 20 Minutes Into The Future introduced the character and explained his origin as the egotistical, slightly unhinged digital alter-ego of investigative reporter Edison Carter (with the excellent, somewhat under-rated Matt Frewer playing both Max and Carter).
Max went on to present a music video show on Channel 4, before US TV developed the original TV movie into a short-lived weekly drama series. Max also hosted a chat show, appeared in TV adverts and had a Christmas special in, I think, 1987, which is where today’s clip comes from.
