Video Killed The Radio Star: Peter Gabriel – Sledgehammer

This week’s classic music video is the award-winning animated promo for Peter Gabriel‘s 1986 single Sledgehammer.

A stylish mix of stop-motion animation, claymation and pixilation, the video won nine awards at the 1987 MTV Music Video Awards, a record that still stands today.

Wallace And Gromit fans may be interested to know that part of the animation work was done by Aardman Animations – and a young Nick Park was responsible for animating the dancing chicken carcasses.
